Affiliate disclosure

In short. We earn a commission if you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. It does not change what we recommend, and we say so when we think you should not buy.

Who we are, and who we are not

Mito Keys is an independent site. It is not MitoLife, and it is not owned, operated, sponsored or editorially controlled by MitoLife or any other manufacturer. We take part in MitoLife's affiliate programme, which means we may earn a commission when you buy through a link here — at no extra cost to you.

This is worth stating plainly because the names are similar. Mito Keys is not MitoLife. MitoLife manufactures and sells the products; Mito Keys is an independent site that writes about them. Nobody at MitoLife commissions, reviews or approves what appears here, and we have published findings they would not have chosen to publish.

What this means in practice

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the seller pays us a percentage of the sale. You pay the same price either way; the commission comes out of the seller's margin, not your pocket.

Every affiliate link is labelled paid link at the link itself, and every page carrying one shows a disclosure before the first recommendation. That is deliberate: a disclosure buried in a footer is not a disclosure.

What it does not change

Commission rates do not decide our rankings, and we do not accept payment for favourable coverage. We recommend cheaper products over more expensive ones when the cheaper one is right, we recommend products we earn nothing from, and we regularly conclude that the right move is to buy nothing at all.

We are not able to promise we are unbiased — nobody who is paid on commission can honestly promise that. What we can do is show our sources on every page, publish what we could not determine, and let you check our work.

Discount codes

Where we show a discount code, it is one we are authorised to share and it gives you a real discount. Sellers sometimes run sitewide promotions that are applied automatically at checkout and do not combine with discount codes. When that happens the code will not work, and we say so rather than letting you find out at checkout.
